I teach various forms of dance such as Salsa, Cha Cha, Tango, West Coast Swing, Merengue, Bachata, Jazz Dance & Ballet. I prefer not to teach a large class but individual lessons or a small private group. I am listed on Craigslist and on some dance sites as an instructor. And, I would prefer not to pass out flyers or post flyers at community boards. I would like to find out inexpensive ways to advertise or get my name out to interested students. I am a 15 year old with no dance experience. I want to start taking swing lessonsbut am a little wary. What form of swing do you suggest taking (East Coast, West Coast, Lindy Hop, etc...)? How do you get into competitive swing dancing?

I started swing dancing for fun this year at college and I love it! I have learned a little bit of everything (Lindy Hop, East Coast, West Coast). I am wondering what it takes to compete in swing dancing (time commitment, how much does it cost, etc)? Also, how would you get started in competing? Okay, so I have these boots i got at LL Bean a few years ago, and been wearing them for riding lessons. I'm getting married in less than 2 months. My boyfriend & I can't agree upon a romantic 1st dance song, so we've decided to do something fun from the 50s/60s or maybe even 80s. We want to learn to swing dance before the wedding.
