Is the West Coast Swing steps I'm learning wrong? Is there more than one type of West Coast Swing?

I've just started learning West Coast Swing and from what I saw on WCS instructional Youtube videos, The steps start as the guy lead by moving backwards. The WCS I learned (8 steps) start off as the guy lead with the left foot moving forward and the fourth step is a right foot moving behind the left leg and tapping the floor with the toe.
